Introductory Course on HIV/AIDS for Nurses

Jointly organised by the School of Professional and Continuing Education, University of Hong Kong and Department of Health

This course is designed for 80 nurses, paramedical health professionals, AIDS work volunteers, medical social workers working in hospitals and clinics. Course content is mainly delivered through lectures, visits to related organizations will be arranged.

Objectives

At the end of the course the participants shall:-

  • have an overview of the current understanding about HIV infections and AIDS;
  • understand the public health principles behind the HIV prevention and control programme;
  • be able to discuss and/or initiate simple HIV prevention, care, or education activities; and
  • be able to discuss and/or provide counselling on HIV/AIDS for potential at risk individuals.
