Update Course on Communicable Diseases

The following is issued on behalf of the Red Ribbon Centre:

Applications are invited for "An Update Course on Communicable Diseases" to be jointly organised by the Department of Health (DH) and the University of Hong Kong's School of Professional and Continuing Education next (May) month.

The Course is designed for nurses, paramedical health professionals, health educators and those who are interested in keeping abreast of recent development of communicable diseases.

The fee is $700 per participant. The six-session course will be conducted in both with both Chinese (Cantonese) and English and will be organised from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm every Friday starting May 7. The venue will be Room 103, Shun Tak Centre, West Tower, 200 Connaught Road Central, Hong Kong.

Leading microbiologists, clinicians and public health practitioners will introduce the local epidemiology and prevention / control strategy.

Topics of the course are:

  • May 7 Enteric diseases (including E-coli O157 and EV71)
  • May 14 Antibiotic-resistance in bacterial infections
  • May 21 Influenza
  • May 28 Hepatitis
  • June 4 AIDS
  • June 11 Measles, Mumps, Rubella

The closing date for applications is April 23, 1999.
